History
Knollwood Country Club was founded in 1894 by a group of businessmen from New York City. The club’s original golf course was designed by Lawrence Van Etten. In 1925, the course was redesigned by A.W. Tillinghast. In 1926, Seth Raynor was hired to redesign the course, but he died before the work was completed. The course was eventually finished by Charles Banks in 1927.
The club has hosted a number of notable events over the years, including the Westchester Open (1929-1932) and the Metropolitan PGA Championship (1948).
